Today Lucy was sitting in her Bumbo while I was making her bottle. She was a little distressed because I was a little late for her feeding so I began cooing "HEY!" to her. She not only repeated me three times but each time she matched my pitch and inflections.
Later, I was reading silently in the "Magic Chair" while she played nearby in the ExerSaucer. She was zoning out so I gave her my usual sweet, soft "boo." She jumped and began to cry hysterically so I picked her up and instantly started singing the ABCs to her (see post below). She was smiling again in no time at all.
When she's distressed or when she's in an extremely good mood she says the MA MA syllables.
