We then drove overnight to Dallas and she slept the entire time. It was easy for her, but hard on us. Glen was exhausted from his gig and driving for 10 hours was a bit much.
In Dallas Lucy met her cousins Gloria, Julia, Philip and Belinda, her Uncle Greg, Uncle Bryant and Aunt Alma and she got reacquainted with her Grammy. She had fun being teased by silly Bryant.
In Austin Glen fed Lucy her first barbecue brisket, kolaches, refried beans, Mexican rice and guacamole (not all on the same day!). Tex-Mex made for an interesting diaper.
My best friend Bonnie and her husband Shaun came over to visit. There is something about men that makes Lucy smile and laugh. She really liked Shaun.
We took a day trip to Waco to visit with her Great Aunt Stella, Great Aunt Cindy and Great Uncle Jerry. My mom's best friend, Darlene came by as did Lucy's second cousin Laura and her husband Billy. Her Mema talked to her the whole way home and Lucy loved it.
In the mornings Uncle Ron and cousins Cameron and Trevor made her laugh. Lucy really took to them.
With a lot of coaxing from Aunt Stephanie and Aunt Melanie, she took two steps. Unfortunate for me and Glen, we were not there to see it. Ever since then she has been standing well on her own.
Little by little, each night we attempted to get Mel & Ron caught up on The Office. A few feet away from us, Lucy slept peacefully in her play yard.
Uncle J and Aunt Melanie babysat Lucy so we could have a double date with Mel & Ron for St. Patrick's Day.
On our last day in Austin we had a picnic at the park. Lucy fed geese (sort of) and took her first ride on a playground slide with her cousins Gabriel and Michaela.
Glen had another gig in Asheville, NC so we headed home on Friday. On the way back through DFW we sneaked into town to see Aunt Terri, her cousins Sara, Rebecca, Tricia, Alicia and Erica and her second cousin Gregory.
